Quasiconvexity, Quasiregularity, and Rigidity of Gradients

Introductory lectures and workshop

Regensburg, 23-26 May 2007

Organizers: Sergio Conti, Georg Dolzmann

More than 50 years after Morrey's seminal papers, many deep questions concerning quasiconvexity, the fundamental notion of convexity in the calculus of variations, remain open. The introductory lectures are intedended to provide a detailled review of background materials accessible to all advanced students. The main theme of the workshop is to explore the close connections between quasiconvexity, quasiregularity and rigidity theorems for gradients and to identify future research directions.

Supported by: DFG through SPP 1095 Analysis, Modeling and Simulation of Multiscale Problems; Universitätsstiftung Hans Vielberth; Universität Regensburg; Universität Duisburg-Essen
